Evolutionary Science

I guess it is the beginning of the school year so it is time to endure  another anti-evolution rant (Tribune, Aug. 28). Columnist Cal Thomas' flawed  logic is not even worth discussing but just in case someone falls for it, here are a few points:
It is undoubtedly true that some scientists are devout Christians (Jews, etc.), something that all of us should respect. It is reasonable to  assume that some of them take the Bible as the unquestionable word of God.  Does this make the belief that the Earth is 6,000 years old a scientific theory? Does this mean that school children should learn about the "scientific theory" that God planted dinosaur fossils to test people's faith? In short,  just because a group of scientists believes in something, that doesn't make it a scientific theory.
It is not the scientists' fault that creationism doesn't constitute a  scientific theory. Cal Thomas is incorrect in stating that evolutionary theory can't be tested. If that were true evolution indeed should not be taught in schools as science. Some aspects of evolutionary theory are currently not testable but most are testable and in fact have withstood rigorous tests over the years.
It is also not scientists' fault that religious indoctrination is banned in public schools in America. That is a result of our Constitution as interpreted by the courts of the land. If Cal Thomas has a problem with that he should direct his rants towards the U.S. Constitution and the Supreme Court, not toward heathen scientists.
If Cal Thomas and other creationists are willing to fault secular people (evolutionists) for the horrors of National Socialism and Communism (incidentally the latter at times strongly persecuted evolutionists), do they fault Christianity as a whole for the horrors of the Inquisition?
